Quite a number of people find different ways to treat dandruff on a regular basis. Even though the cause of dandruff is not entirely understood, however in theory, one of the main causes of dandruff is said to be a breakdown of the scalps natural liquid barrier, leaving it exposed to infection by the microscopic yeast which is commonly found in the scalp. When the yeast experiences overgrowth, it leads to an inflammatory response that kills off the scalp cells at a high rate, which in turn results in stick patches and flakes.
Some teenagers find that they have dandruff when they hit puberty because their hygiene habits had not changed to be able to accommodate the challenges of newly accelerated sebum production.
poor hygiene, poor diet and stress can make the scalp more susceptible to dandruff.
Foods containing high sugar are known to worsen yeast infection.
Hair should always be brushed regularly to loosen flakes and stimulate blood supply to the scalp, which will increase the rate the natural immune response to infection.
Nutrition: reduce intake of excess sugars and refined starch while treating dandruff as they are known to aggravate yeast infection.
Cleansing: massage your scalp thoroughly while shampooing. This helps to loosen and remove any dead skin flakes and also helps to prevent the infection from continuing. Wash your hair regularly until the infection clears.
Conditioning: always make sure to use protective hair condition on the hair. Avoid getting conditioner on the scalp as it could clog your pores and interfere with the healing of your skin.
Massage: Massaging your scalp daily will help stimulate blood supply to the hair follicles and help loosen the dead skin flakes. Also massaging helps with hair growth.
